Tennis player Katie Boulter
Katie Boulter has dropped from 23rd to 100th in the world rankings in the current season

British Katie Boulter admits she feels she has to "choose between my physical condition and my ranking" as the race persists for a position in the upcoming January Australian Open main draw.

While the typical WTA Tour season is completed, there are still standing points to be earned in Latin American countries, regional locations, Ecuador and France.

The female participant roster for the initial Grand Slam of the upcoming season will be based on the global standings of the December cutoff, which could present a challenging situation for competitors approaching the cut.

Injury Concerns

Previous British top-ranked player Boulter experienced an hip muscle in her concluding competition of the year in Asian venues last period, and is now evaluating whether to compete in the WTA 125 secondary tournament in French locations, the continental destination, in the first week of December.

Boulter's current physical issue, and the situation she would need to win at least multiple victories in Angers to enhance her position, means she may well end up not competing.

Different Systems

In opposition, male athletes are not experiencing the same dilemma, as for the first time the male Australian Open competitor lineup will be established from current week's positions, which is the ATP's standard season-concluding position determination.

The change is intended to preventing athletes from seeking ranking points during what is basically the rest interval.

Coaching Changes

This year has been a difficult one for Boulter.

She secured just 14 professional primary competition matches and lately parted ways with coach Biljana Veselinovic after a lengthy working relationship in which she won three WTA victories.

"Biljana is an exceptional coach, and an remarkably excellent human as well, which produces circumstances very difficult," Boulter stated.

The search for a new coach is well under way, searching for a professional who has top-tier experience as Boulter maintains the belief she can be a top-20 athlete.

Professional Aspirations

"Going forward with a new coach, a key aspect I'm completely sure on is that they are going to be an individual who has considerable expertise in how to succeed to the peak performance of this profession," she stated.

"I've been placed as high as twenty-three and I believe I can get back to that level. I am not convinced my standard has gone anywhere, I feel the reliability should develop.

"My aim is not merely to be ranked fifty, 40, thirty, 20 - we've accomplished that. The objective is to be inside the top twenty."
