“That was unfortunate. That was kind of an interaction with our fans out in front of us,” Jones stated during a Tuesday interview. “There was a swarm of Cowboys fans—not Jets fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was filled with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further emphasized that the gesture was completely accidental, happening amid the elation following the team’s final touchdown. “I simply put up the incorrect digit,” he noted. “The action was inadvertently performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it unplanned, you can. But it got resolved pretty quick.”
