Hulu is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that gamers dived into was Far Cry 6, which starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. Throughout the franchise, it is famous for embracing action and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting captivating, ideologically themed narratives. Little surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two producers whose work have represented all of those things.
Show Details
Based on Ubisoft's hit video game property, the limited anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a new setting and ensemble in every instalment.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series through their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
We’ve shared excellent relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are joining forces for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is fresh, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Upcoming Developments
Mac will also star in the show, but currently, we do not know what role that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was not long ago renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new long-term contract with the showrunner.
“Being able to collaborate together with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX team constantly supports me with their steady belief and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology series. Each game is a take of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can shift from season to season, while always delving into the core of society through this multifaceted and turbulent viewpoint, is a long-held aspiration. I’m thrilled to collaborate with Rob and bring our common bold, ambitious sensibility to the television.”
A release window for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has remains undisclosed. The series will be available on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus in other regions.
