Seamer Gus Atkinson Compounds the English team's Injury Concerns.
'Significant concern' for England as Atkinson goes off due to a hamstring issue.
The English seamer further complicated the injury concerns plaguing England after leaving the ground on the second morning of the fourth Ashes Test versus the Australians.
Atkinson felt a problem in his left hamstring immediately following a delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.
The touring camp reported Atkinson had experienced "tightness" and would spend time off the field for further assessment "during the day".
The final Test of the tour in Sydney begins on Sunday, 4 January.
England have previously lost fast bowlers one seamer with a knee problem and another paceman because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.
Matthew Fisher was brought into the squad as injury reinforcement.
His form was underwhelming in the opening two Tests, managing only three wickets.
He was dropped of the third Test, then recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.
Surrey's Atkinson improved at the MCG, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, then making 28 while batting being one of only three English batsmen to get into double digits.
Post a single over at the end of day one, he resumed the next day and dismissed the nightwatchman edging to the keeper.
However, at the end of the fifth over, he bowled a change of pace to the batsman and suddenly grabbed at his leg.
Atkinson returned to the side for the Boxing Day Test after being left out of the third.
