The British player made it to the third stage in three of the four major tournaments in the current campaign.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been battling for the last week and a half.

Raducanu, aged 22 was scheduled to compete in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to recover ahead of launching her preparations for 2026.

These plans are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

The tennis professional had her blood pressure taken while playing the initial match against Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to Chinese wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu due to back discomfort that has been a concern on several occasions in 2025.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after more than three years for the first time since 2022, finished with a trio of defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

Raducanu won 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in Washington, but her standout performance was at March's Miami Open.

As Britain's top player reached the quarter-finals of a premier WTA event, overcoming Emma Navarro, the eighth seed during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

She was coached by Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over for the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but the partnership will continue, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she reached the third round then falling to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
