Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Digital Device
It has been 30 years after the original Toy Story film was released, establishing Pixar as a leading film company and bringing audiences to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — getting a latest toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), journeying with a carnival and assisting prize toys find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, though. It also raises questions whether Bo Peep will have come back with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Connections from the Last Installment
Fortunately, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (Joan Cusack), leaving her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge attached to her outfit.
Hopefully she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
